Studies Find Heavy Heating Oil Has Severe Effect on Air Quality

One of the major causes of populted air in New York City was found to be from people heating heavy oil in there boilers. Doing this causes a thick black smoke to pour out and this has a negative effect on the air quality. City officials have decided that they are going to put a regulation on how much oil the city will be able to burn in the up coming years in hope that the air in the city will clean up. In a study of the air they found that there was the highest level of high pollutants in many residentatial and commercial areas where there is oil being burned. It will cost alot to clean up the oil burners but it is something that has to be done.
I think that if it is hurting the air and the environment we should stop burning the oil. It will just keep getting worse and hurting the environment more and more.

Large Oil Spill Reported in China

There was a large oil spill that occured in northwest China close to one of the tributaries of the Yellow River. This spill threatens to reach the Yellow River and contaminat one of Chinas longest and most important source of water. There was a damaged pipeline that was leaking large amounts of diesel oil last Thursday. 40000 gallons of the oil was the estimated amount of oil that leaked from the pipeline. The Yellow River is a source of water for around 140 million Chinese citeizens and the oil spill can sereously threaten all of the people who are provided through the river.
I think that it is bad that the spill occured and that is happened so close to such an important source of water. The government in China should watch over the pipelines closer so this does not happen. They should also no put it so close to a source of water like this.
